Susanne and Smith's Wedding at Brahma Ridge: Part I by Michael Oppenheim

I have been wanting to share images from Susanne Hackett and Smith McAuley's wedding held at Brahma Ridge Event Center in Candler, NC (just outside of Asheville) for quite some time.   Susanne and Smith made concerted efforts to collaborate with as many local wedding vendors as possible and truly orchestrated a very personalized and unique wedding that reflected their personalities.  They chose Brahma Ridge "for its beautiful outdoor space and laid back, family feel. They were wonderful to work with!"  It really did provide the perfect backdrop for them to create a beautiful and memorable wedding.   I hope these images capture that spirit.  Susanne and Smith were kind enough to write this on my behalf:  "Michael was recommended by a friend and as soon as we met him, we knew he was the one to be with us that day. He is personable and his work is amazing. We could not have picked a better wedding photographer. Our family loved him too!"  I am very lucky to have met and befriended such great people (and their families!) and privileged that they entrusted me to capture their special day!  Susan owns and operates the community/business development firm Pollinate Collaborations and Smith is an amazing carpenter and owns WSM Craft

There was such a great vibe throughout the day and these post-ceremony shots I hope really capture the love between Susanne and Smith, as well as between them and their community of family and friends. "Music is the cosmic dance!"  So states Maude in the movie Harold and Maude.   Music and dance was certainly  "cosmically" prevalent throughout the wedding reception.   Not only did Asheville's Crybaby provide the soundtrack for the evening but a collection of family and friends took turns at the microphone, including Smith on guitar!  Crybaby, an "irreverant jazz standards band" (an offshoot of one of Asheville's most popular bands, stephanie's id)   features Stephanie Morgan on vocals, Chuck Lichtenberger on keyboards, Timothy Haney on drums, and Jonathon Pearlman on guitar, among others.  Susanne even danced with someone in a gorilla suit!  There is always something new to capture at every wedding I photograph and this was no exception! If it is not apparent I absolutely love capturing the real emotions and interactions and one-of-a-kind moments that materialize throughout the wedding day.

Thanks again to all the vendors as well as Susanne and Smith's immediate family and close friends who contributed to this amazing wedding.  Credits can be found at the bottom of this gallery.
